Today marks the start of LGBT History Month —
30 years ago, the London Pride March was led by Welsh miners as a poignant gesture of solidarity, in gratitude for how
@LGSMpride had supported them during the strike. The miners thus were reciprocating through their stalwart allyship for the LGBT community’s struggle for human rights.
The lovely film Pride portrays this important moment of anti-Thatcher activism as a collective endeavor despite presumed (and in many ways imposed) perceptions of difference.
